Anthony Sanders - Public School Funding

Tony Sanders, superintendent for Elgin Area School District U-46, the second largest in Illinois, examines school funding challenges for districts such as his. He discusses the problems created by the previous school aid formula, reviewed the revenue needed to provide an adequate education for his district's students, and talked about the pro-ration of general state aid which unfairly hurt the poorest districts. Superintendent Sanders also discussed the efforts to fix the funding problem that eventually led to the adoption of the Evidence Based Funding model (EBF) and the positive impact that the passage of EBF had on his and other districts.
