Tips and Rules Rules General For security reasons, please limit personal belongings brought into the museum. All bags will be inspected. No food, beverages, candy, or gum allowed. No firearms allowed. Proper attire and footwear are required. Segways, shoes with wheels, and hoverboards are prohibited. Cell phones should be silenced. A responsible adult must remain with children while visiting Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic. No late admittance to theater presentations. The Museum is a smoke-free facility. No pets allowed. (Service animals permitted under ADA are welcome.) No refunds or exchanges on Museum Admission. The Museum reserves the right to refuse admittance. Photography/Videography Photography guidelines are posted at entrances of exhibits and theaters. Flash photography is allowed only in the Plaza and Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic. Non-flash photography and videography are allowed in Journey 1, Journey 2, Illinois Gallery and the Treasures Gallery (unless otherwise posted). Photography and videography are prohibited in the two theaters. Selfie sticks are prohibited. Helpful Tips Comfort and Convenience Everyone loves a deal and we encourage you to view our current promotional discounts. A membership is a great way to support our mission and receive free admissions each day! Wristbands serve as admission and allow our guests to exit and enter the Museum throughout the day if needed. The best days to visit are Sunday and Monday, due to lower attendance. Bring a light sweater or jacket because the Museum is a constant 70 degrees. The Museum is equipped to accommodate guests with disabilities and assist with special needs. Mrs. Lincoln’s Attic is the place designed specifically for our young guests with period toys and costumes for interactive play. Groups of 15 or more receive a discount and must book in advance through the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau. Navigation and Timing Guests spend an average of 2–2.5 hours visiting the Museum. (Last ticket sales are at 4:00 p.m. and we close at 5:00 p.m.) The Museum is self-guided, but our dedicated staff and volunteers are ready for any questions that arise. Journey 1 – The Pre-Presidential Years walkthrough exhibit takes 15 – 20 minutes Journey 2 – The White House Years walkthrough exhibit takes 30 – 40 minutes.
