Dan Cox - Public School Funding

Dan Cox, the superintendent for the Staunton School District at the time of this interview, discusses the impact of school funding upon his district. He reviews the difficulties faced during the Illinois recession, the pro-rating of state aid, and the reduction and delay in categorical payments (transportation). He examines the impact of the new Evidence Based Funding model and the ability to add staff plus reducie class size to raise student achievement. Also discussed were the successful passage of a county sales tax for school facilities, the District's current participation in a school funding lawsuit, and future challenges facing the Staunton School District.
