Laura Van Buren - Springfield African-American History Foundation

Laura Van Buren was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois. She attended Feitshans High School and Brown Business School before landing a job with the Illinois Department of Transportation. In her interview, she talks about some of the discrimination she faced while looking for a job, as well as some of the racism that she witnessed growing up in Springfield in the 1920s and 1930s.
