Marvin Merriweather - Tumultuous 2020

Marvin Merriweather has worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2014. At the end of 2019, he was preparing for the opening of his private practice in spring 2020. When the Illinois pandemic mitigations began in March 2020, his plans were forced to halt. However, legislation soon passed in Illinois to make telehealth therapy more accessible and Merriweather worked to build his practice in this capacity. During this time, Merriweather also worked as a chairside counselor for DeVita, Inc., a dialysis center. Throughout the interview, Merriweather shares how he navigated both the opening of a business during the pandemic as well as the mental toll the pandemic took on him as a therapist.
