Glenn Matthews - Rochester

Glenn Matthews was born in 1922 and grew up on the family farm in central Illinois. As a young man, he worked for Caterpillar in Peoria where he met his wife, Loraine Anderson. During WW II he served with the 6th Ranger Battalion, which served in the Philippine campaign. The unit participated in the famous Cabanatuan raid in January, 1945, rescuing over 500 Allied POWs. Following the war, Glenn returned to Roby, Illinois and starting his own builder/contractor business. He was in business for fifty years, constructing over 200 houses in the Rochester area.
