Peg Kopec - IHSA
Peg Kopec discussed her involvement with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) through her experiences as a high school girls' volleyball coach, an IHSA volleyball sports advisor member, and an IHSA Sportsmanship Advisory Committee member. Coach Kopec reflects on the rise of Illinois girls' volleyball following Title IX legislation in 1972, as exemplified by her successful program at St. Francis, which won twelve state championships including four state championships in a row. Coach Kopec won 1248 games at St. Francis over a forty-two year career. She shared the motivational methods that proved so successful, and the role of the St. Francis family in continuing a winning volleyball tradition at the school.
