Richard Kahne - Sangamon County

Richard Kahne moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1965 to work for Illinois Bell, and quickly embraced his new home town. “I moved to Springfield for Lincoln,” said Kahne. During his many years there, Richard became involved with the Illinois Tourism Commission, helping to create the Springfield State Journal-Register’s Family of the Week series as well as working on the nation's Bicentennial in 1976. In 1980, Richard worked on a commission for the Illinois and Michigan Canal, and later helped with opening the Lincoln Home to the public.
