Stanley Ikenberry - Higher Education

Stanley Ikenberry served as the President of the University of Illinois system from 1979 to 1995, holding that post longer than any other president, and doing so during a period of dramatic change for the University. He led the effort to expand the Chicago-Circle campus; other initiatives included the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. He worked to improve the quality and diversity of the student body with the establishment of the Presidential Scholars program. He also spoke about the Chief Illiniwek controversy.
