Sara Flanigan - IHSA

Sara Flanigan explains her work as a high school official and coach for competitive cheer and dance, two relatively new competitive sports in Illinois. The interview covers how cheer and dance became IHSA sports (in 2006 and 2013 respectively). Sara brought her experiences as a former high school cheerleader to her position with the Illinois High School Association, and explains the transition of cheer and later dance as competitive sports currently involving over 200 state high schools. She discusses the scoring rubrics and what the officials look for during regular and state meets.
