Scott Johnson - Civics Education

Scott Johnson, a high school civics teacher at Thornridge High School in Dolton, Illinois, discusses the implementation of civics as a required semester long senior level course due to legislation passed by the Illinois legislature in 2017. Johnson discusses the content of the course as well as teaching controversial subjects and his students' service learning activities (Soapbox). He also reviewed the impact of remote teaching of Civics due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
