Joseph "Jay" Walsh - Tumultuous 2020

Dr. Jay Walsh outlines the work that was done to gain approval for the University of Illinois' saliva based COVID-19 testing program which was first used during the summer of 2020 and continued throughout the 2020-21 school year. As a result, the University of Illinois safely offered in-person classes. Dr. Walsh reviews the approval process that occurred with the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and also describes the saliva based COVID-19 tests the university adopted.
