Elijah Singley - Springfield African-American History Foundation

Elijah Singley was born in Bessemer, Alabama and attended Atlanta University. He received his Master's of Science Degree in Library Service and took a job at Virginia State University as a librarian. He began to get involved in the Civil Rights movement there, taking students to and from sit-ins in the area. After taking a job at Alabama State University, Singley became a participant in the third Selma to Montgomery March, organized by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
