Chris Johnson - Civics Education

Chris Johnson has taught history and civics at the ROWVA High School (Rio, Oneida, Wataga, Victoria and Altona) since 2005. He discussed the teaching of civics education at a smaller rural school district, with an enrollment of approximately 200 students. Johnson spoke about the challenges of using controversial topics in the classroom and of developing service learning projects with the students. Chris also talked about how he adjusted to remote learning in March 2020 and the plans for fall 2020 schooling due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
