Michael DiNovo - Civics Education

Mike DiNovo discusses how Civics Education is being implemented at York High School in Elmhurst. He reviews the changes the school made in the social studies curriculum due to the civics mandate. These changes included some modifications to the U.S. Government course already required, and the expanded use of simulations, discussion of controversial topics, and the enhancement of service projects that had already been part of York's curriculum. DiNovo also talks about how York became a Democracy High School, and the school's professional training of teachers using non-profit organizations, instructional coaches, and the Regional Office, DuPage County.
