John Cunningham - Tumultuous 2020

John Cunningham, the Clerk for Kane County, Illinois, reviewed the challenges his office faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most significant challenges was the administration of elections from March 2020 to April 2021, especially the presidential election in November 2020. Cunningham discussed the major increase in mail-in voting, the need for new equipment to handle mail-in voting, and increases in early voting. He also discussed the day-to-day operation of the office (in person visits by appointment), the impact of lower revenue, and funding grants the office received through the CARES ACT and private foundations.
