Jennifer Burdette, who teaches social studies and civics classes at Spoon River Valley High School, discusses the challenges of teaching civics at a small rural school. As a civics teaching mentor through the McCormick Foundation, she provides insights into teaching controversial subjects, media literacy and the use of service projects for the students.
