Senator John Cullerton, a Democrat, started his career in the Illinois House of Representatives in 1979, and moved to the Illinois Senate in 1991. From 1997 to 2004 he served closely with then State Senator Obama, and was an enthusiastic supporter of Obama's run for the U.S. Senate and the presidency. Cullerton talks at length about their relationship, including his reflections on the years Obama served in the U.S. Senate and as President.
