Portrait of Abraham LincolnThe Audiovisual Collection is home to vast holdings of photographic negatives, print photographs, broadsides, audio and film recordings; including early photographs dating back to the 1840s to oral history interviews from the present day.

Highlights from the Audiovisual Collection include:

Photographs: More than 400,000 photographs that visually document Illinois' rich history including pre-statehood, Civil War, prominent families including Abraham Lincoln, labor and industries.

Broadsides: Over 5,000 broadside posters relating to general advertising to World War I and World War II propaganda material.

Audio and Film: Primarily consisting of over audiotapes and film relating to Illinois governors, but also include oral history interviews of Illinoisans.
