Book Club for Educators: The Girl Who Smiled Beads

June 14th - 14th

When she was just six years old, Clemantine Wamariya and her sister, Claire, fled the Rwandan massacre, spending the next six years searching for a home before arriving in Chicago. In June’s Book Club for Educators selection, The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After, we'll discuss Wamariya’s journey of survival and her commitment to constructing life on her own terms.

The Book Club for Educators programs follow the format of PD in Your PJs, inviting you to come as you are, drink what you want, and chat about great books with your peers. This virtual event is free, but registration is required. All participants who read The Girl Who Smiled Beads and attend the book club discussion will receive 6.5 CPDUs.
