When we talk about Lincoln, we rightly usually focus on the Civil War and Emancipation. But the Lincoln administration also helped reshape the Western United States. Join Illinois and Midwest Studies Historian Jacob Friefeld for a discussion of the 1862 Dakota War and Lincoln’s lasting Western legacy. Following Dr. Friefeld's talk, participants will discuss educator resources and classroom application.
