Work Case 4

Lincoln’s Last Partner

Lincoln’s final law partner William Herndon lived in Springfield in the mid-1850’s in a home on Jefferson Street located between 1st and 2nd streets before eventually returning to his family farm north of Springfield.  This nameplate adorned the front door of that Springfield residence and was eventually acquired by the Presidential Library in July of 1953.
