Celebrate 100 Years of Route 66 at the ALPLM

Take a road trip through history as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66 with two special attractions in the museum plaza!

Route 66 Photo Booth

Climb behind the wheel and cruise the Mother Road without leaving Springfield. Our new Route 66 photo booth recreates the charm of old Hollywood driving scenes, complete with classic Illinois Route 66 footage playing behind you — just like the delightfully “fake” driving effects seen in vintage movies.

Circuit Rider

Also on display is Circuit Rider, a one-of-a-kind “Iron Horse” motorcycle built in 2009 to honor Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday. Inspired by Lincoln’s years traveling the Illinois legal circuit as a young lawyer, the custom motorcycle was created by Dick Levi, Founder of Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc.

Both attractions will be on display in the museum plaza through the end of September, following the Illinois Route 66 Mother Road Festival on September 25–27, 2026.
