All copies of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum’s (hereinafter “ALPLM”) collection materials created by patrons or provided by staff fall under allowances provided by Section 107 (Fair Use) and Section 108 (Library and Archives exemptions) of the United States Copyright Act. Permission to examine materials or the sale of a reproduction is not an authorization to publish, distribute, or broadcast, either in print or digitally. Reproductions of material are not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research.” Using material for purposes in excess of “fair use” without permission holds the user liable for copyright infringement. The ALPLM reserves the right to refuse to accept any copying or reproduction order, in its sole discretion. Acceptance of a reproduction request does not mean that the ALPLM has made any determination of any copyright or related matters concerning the request. Use of reproductions of collection items shall be at the user’s sole risk. The ALPLM is not able to assist in identifying the copyright holders. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, however, shall be cited as the source.
