Work Case 4

Lincoln’s Herndon

William Herndon was in his mid-20s when he became Abraham Lincoln’s law partner in 1844. Outliving his famous mentor, Herndon became a key figure in shaping Lincoln’s legacy by crafting several influential but controversial essays and biographies. These are his dinner bell and glasses, likely from his later days in Springfield.
