Four Score and More! The Battle of Antietam

22,726 dead, wounded, and missing; that was the human cost of the Battle of Antietam/Sharpsburg, a titanic engagement between the Army of Northern Virginia and the Army of the Potomac fought on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland and Antietam Creek.  The Battle of Antietam/Sharpsburg remains the single bloodiest day in American history—a day of enormous human suffering that turned the tide of the Civil War. A strategic victory for the United States, the battle had ramifications that reach far beyond the battlefield. 

Join the ALPLM in commemorating the 164^th anniversary of this pivotal battle as Ian Hunt and Daniel Worthington discuss the battle and its significance as a turning point in the Civil War as part of our Four Score and More history series.

Dr. Hunt will offer his discussion at 10:30 a.m. and Dr. Worthington will present his program at 2:30 p.m.  Each presentation will take place in Mr. Lincoln's Theater, adjacent to the ALPLM museum plaza.
