Lincolns4Lincoln LITERACY JAM!

February 8th, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Two free admission days highlight the celebration for Mr. Lincoln’s 216th birthday at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in February!

Join us for free admission for all guests on both Saturday, February 8, and Wednesday, February 12.

On Saturday, February 8, we’ll celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s love of reading and life-long learning with the Lincolns4Lincoln LITERACY JAM to benefit the Compass for Kids after school program.  This special event especially for kids will happen from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in our museum plaza.  The Literacy Jam will feature story-time from celebrity readers, musical entertainment, a magician, local sports mascots, and interactive activities for children.

Here's but a few of the entertainers and special guest readers scheduled to appear...

* 10:00 a.m. – Tater Tots Rock will get everyone moving and dancing with their special brand of rock n’ roll for the junior set.

* 10:30 a.m. – Granny Bee will create a buzz as she reads several special books for our youngest guests.

* 11:00 a.m. – Cast members of the Hoogland Center for the Arts children’s musical, “The SpongeBob Musical – Youth Edition” will offer a special story and perform a number from the musical.

* 12:00 p.m. – Magician Richard Landry and Snowball will dazzle young and old alike with MAGIC THAT MOTIVATES and encourages the love of reading and learning!

* 1:00 p.m. – Miss Illinois Teen 2024 Lucy Kuelper and Miss Land of Lincoln Teen 2025 Amileah Waggoner will each read a story and meet with children for photos afterwards.

* 1:30 p.m. – Cast members of the Hoogland Center for the Arts children’s musical, “101 Dalmations Kids” will offer a special story and perform a number from the musical.

The goal of the Literacy Jam is to spread Mr. Lincoln’s love of reading by asking you to donate a book from the wish list of Compass for Kids students! It’s amazing what can happen when you give a kid a book they choose: they discover their passion for reading!
