Freedom in Form: Art History Happy Hour

January 16th, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Enjoy a glass of wine and listen to a lecture given by an art expert!  Some lectures may include a hands on art project that demonstrates the topic presented. All lectures take place at Springfield Art Association's Main Campus inside of the M.G. Nelson Family Gallery.

On Thursday evening, January 16, 2025, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., the featured speaker will be Ross Jordan. Ross is the curator of the new exhibit, "Freedom of Form: Richard Hunt," currently featured at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.  Ross will talk about Richard Hunt’s career and importance in the art world.

Ross Jordan is a curator interested in the confluence of American politics, visual culture, and artistic production. He’s also made himself a vital presence in Chicago’s art community curating various independent exhibitions in several of Chicago’s tenacious arts venues. Ross holds a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Arts from Connecticut College and dual Masters Degrees in Art History and Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Ross’s essay, "A Needful Thing,” is included in ALPLM's exhibition catalogue for the Freedom in Form exhibition.

This program is free to attend. Reservations are not required.  Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  Lecture begins at 6:00 p.m.  The Springfield Art Association is located at 700 North 4th Street.
