In conjunction with our new exhibit, “Richard Hunt: Freedom in Form,” you’re invited to join Jon Ott, Richard Hunt’s official Biographer, and ALPLM Exhibits Director Lance Tawzer for a special tour of the exhibit and talk about Richard Hunt’s career and importance on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the ALPLM’s Illinois Gallery.
Jon is the author of the Illustrated Chronology of the recently published artist’s monograph, Richard Hunt. Over the years, he has spent countless hours with Richard in his studios and on the road, traveling to see art and visit friends.
Jon also serves as vice chair of The Richard Hunt Legacy Foundation and chair emeritus of the International Sculpture Center (ISC), which presented Hunt with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Sculpture in 2009.
Jon's essay, "Richard Hunt: Sculpting Freedom" is included in ALPLM's exhibition catalogue for the Freedom in Form exhibition.
This special gallery talk with Jon Ott and Lance Tawzer is included with your regular museum admission.
Be sure to come early for the gallery talk, as the original soundtrack that was specially composed for the exhibit by ALPLM actor, Randy Erwin, will be performed live in the gallery between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
The soundtrack is entitled, Freedom in Form: Nine Vignettes for Richard Hunt, and will be performed by a quartet of musicians including Melissa Blankestyn (saxophone), Ann Collins (violin), Aaron Duncan (trumpet), and Sharon Lombard (cello).
