Tales from the Vault: Black in the Army Again - A Collection of Artifacts and Manuscripts relating to African American Participation in the United States Armed Forces

October 10th, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Throughout our nation’s history, African Americans have been called upon to take up arms and fight for our national defense. Objects in our collection, help us tell the stories of our nation’s Black soldiers and their sacrifices. Join ALPLM Research Director Brian Mitchell for our latest edition of Tales from the Vault as we explore African American military service in the United States through artifacts, images, and manuscripts.

This will be a “hybrid” event with the opportunity to attend in-person or virtually. The program will take place in our library’s multi-purpose room on Thursday, October 10 at 12:00 p.m. The event is free; reservations are not required.

To watch virtually via Facebook Live, please go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page. Open the page at the appointed time and scroll to the post highlighting the live event. Once you’re there, simply click on the image and watch the live video stream.

Tales from the Vault is a monthly collaboration between the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Illinois State Museum.
