Book Club for Educators: Maus I and Maus II

September 13th, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Often described as “haunting” and “brutally moving,” Maus vividly depicts the experiences of Art Spiegelman’s father during the Holocaust, while sharing the story of a father and son whose tortured relationship reflects the trauma of the past. Maus is the first and only graphic novel to have won a Pulitzer Prize, yet it continues to be banned by schools for the violent events it depicts. Join the ALPLM’s Education team as we discuss the importance of this seminal work and its place in classroom instruction.

The Book Club for Educators programs follow the format of PD in Your PJs, inviting you to come as you are, drink what you want, and chat about great books with your peers. This virtual event is free, but registration is required. All participants who read Maus I and II (also called The Complete Maus) and attend the book club discussion will receive 6.5 CPDUs.
