Tales from the Vault: From Springfield to Hildene -- The Women of the Lincoln Family

March 3rd, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Join the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in celebrating Women’s History Month with a special edition of Tales of the Vault.

Join ALPLM Lincoln Historian Christian McWhirter for “From Springfield to Hildene: The Women of the Lincoln Family.” Using objects from ALPLM’s vast collection, McWhirter will explore five generations of women who shaped and preserved the Lincoln family and its legacy. From Abraham Lincoln’s stepmother Sarah Bush Johnston to his great granddaughter Peggy Beckwith, these women lived fascinating lives through some of the most critical years of American history.

This will be a “hybrid” event with the opportunity to attend in-person or virtually. The program will take place in our library’s multi-purpose room on Thursday, March 3 at 12pm. The event is free; reservations are not required.

To watch virtually via Facebook Live, please go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page. Open the page at the appointed time and scroll to the post highlighting the live event. Once you’re there, simply click on the image and watch the live video stream.

Tales from the Vault is a monthly collaboration between the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Illinois State Museum, and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
