The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is pleased to present: “An Evening with Jimmy Chamberlin of the Smashing Pumpkins” on Wednesday, November 17.

When the alt-rock band Smashing Pumpkins became an international sensation, it was Jimmy Chamberlin’s powerful, creative drumming that drove the band’s music. His skill put him high on lists of the greatest drummers of all time.

Chamberlin will appear in our Union Theater for a unique event in conjunction with our special exhibit, "State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois." He will demonstrate his incredible drumming skills and discuss his musical influences from the worlds of rock and jazz. He’ll also share stories of the ups and downs of his career and his battle with addiction as well as his successful recovery.

The program will begin at 7pm, but come early when doors open at 6pm for an opportunity to view our special exhibit, "State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois." Our museum store will also be open between 6pm and 7pm prior to the program.
