Facebook LIVE! Lincoln in Private

May 6th, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

You’re invited to join the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM) for a conversation with Ronald C. White about his new book Lincoln in Private.

Abraham Lincoln was a deeply private man, even to his closest advisers. He was known to come up with “his best thoughts,” as he called them, in short notes to himself. It was an intellectual exercise that allowed him to work through his positions on the biggest issues of the day. Lincoln never expected anyone to see these candid thoughts, which he kept close at hand, in desk drawers and even in his top hat.

The profound importance of these notes has been overlooked, until now. The originals are scattered across several different archives. But Ronald C. White has brought them all together to examine the notes as a coherent whole in Lincoln in Private.

White will talk about the book and his insight into President Lincoln’s innermost thoughts with ALPLM Lincoln Historian Christian McWhirter during a special Facebook LIVE! on Thursday, May 6 at 7pm Central time. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions during the conversation.

To watch, just go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page. Then open the page at the appointed time and scroll to the post highlighting the live event. Once you’re there, simply click on the image and watch the live video stream.

Lincoln in Private is published by Random House and goes on sale May 4, 2021.
