February 8th - 8th

For the PD in Your PJs series, we invite you to come as you are, drink what you want, engage with the experts, and leave with 1.0 CPDU credit.

Description: The Civil War was a pivotal moment for African Americans. Black men and women, both enslaved and free, were among the first to recognize the war’s potential for ending slavery and immediately went to work pressuring the Union Army and Lincoln administration to transform the war into one for emancipation. This conversation, led by Christian McWhirter, ALPLM's Lincoln Historian, will focus on the many ways African Americans aided the Union war effort and shaped it into one that made them “forever free” from chattel slavery.
