Work Case 3

The Lincoln Home

In 1887 Robert T. Lincoln sold the family Home to the State of Illinois for $1.00, with the proviso that it always be open free to the public. (The National Park Service has run the Home since 1971.) The original key to the front door was kept by a neighbor who changed the lock for renters in 1861.

Deed donated by Oglesby family, 1960;
Key acquired in 1993
