The Family Dog

Abraham Lincoln frequently adopted animals. The family’s best-known pet was Fido, who came into their lives sometime before 1855. After Lincoln won the presidency, the Roll family took in Fido, but he also became a minor celebrity, as evidenced by the widely reproduced photos displayed here.
