The Lincoln Home
The only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned sits about half a mile from where you are now standing. The bust to your right—a gift to future First Family from sculptor Leonard Volk—was displayed in the home’s parlor. Frank Leslie’s Illustrated News captured the room in its March 9, 1861, issue—only days after Lincoln’s presidential inauguration—including this bust and the “whatnot” it stood upon.
