PD in Your PJs - Visibility Across the Spectrum: Including LGBTQ+ History in the US History Curriculum, Stacie Brensilver Berman

September 15th, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

o For the PD in Your PJs series, we invite you to come as you are, drink what you want, engage with the experts, and leave with 1.0 CPDU credit.
o LGBTQ+ lives and experiences are present and significant throughout US history, but are often excluded from the narrative. This session will focus on LGBTQ+ individuals and themes in 19th century America, highlighting key contributions and establishing that queer and transgender individuals have always existed and played an important role in the development and evolution of the country. From cowboys and gold miners in the American West, to soldiers fighting in the Civil War, to reform-minded women establishing Boston Marriages at the end of the century, understanding LGBTQ+ history is vital to understanding the larger US history narrative. Participants will receive resources and strategies that they can use in their classes, including primary and secondary sources and suggested learning activities.

This is a free program, but advance registration is required.
