Stories of Survival: Women and Genocide

September 27th, 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

In partnership with the Illinois Holocaust Museum, educators are invited to delve deeply into the experiences of women during multiple genocides, including the Holocaust, Bosnia, and Rwanda. To restore agency to women, we will explore the multiple roles women played during genocide. Through close reading/viewing of primary sources and testimony, participants will dissect the difficult decisions women had to make to survive and analyze the choices made by women survivors, perpetrators, and rescuers.

All participants will leave with 1.5 CPDUs and a wealth of knowledge and resources to incorporate women’s experiences into their genocide unit.
