We all know the Union won the Civil War, but historians and observers have debated for decades why and how Abraham Lincoln and the Federal military were able to subdue the Confederate States of America. Join Lincoln Historian Christian McWhirter for an interactive discussion of the different theories for why the Civil War turned out the way it did and how educators can use that debate help students learn about America’s greatest crisis and develop critical thinking skills.

Although cameras are not required, participants are expected to engage in the conversation during this session.
