Dr. Bonnie Laughlin-Schultz of Eastern Illinois University discusses how she prepares teachers to instruct social studies at the secondary level while using the new Illinois State Social Studies Standards as prescribed by the new high school Civics Education Mandate. Bonnie also explains the professional training opportunities provided in East Central Illinois to current civics teachers regarding service projects and controversial topics.
